The National Cultural-Art and Museum Complex "Mystetskyi arsenal" is the flagship Ukrainian cultural institution which is intended to foster modernization of the Ukrainian society and Ukraine’s integration in the worldwide context based on the axiological [value-based] potential of the culture.
Synthesis and development of contemporary art, music, theatre, literature and museum affairs take place through exhibition projects and activities of the laboratories of Mystetskyi arsenal. Thus, various arts develop and enrich each other, while artistic and professional communities find common ground and mutual reinforcement.
All projects of Mystetskyi arsenal include a strong educational component. Mystetskyi arsenal mediates between the experts and the general public – tells about cultural and social phenomena, explains their reasons and trajectories. This is a platform for diverse audiences’ education and interaction: adult visitors, children and adolescents, artists and cultural workers.
The total area of the Mystetskyi Arsenal National Cultural-Arts and Museum Complex is 9.8 hectares. Exhibition area of the Old Arsenal building is 56,000 sq.m. The Old Arsenal building is a historical and architectural monument of national importance in the conservation area of the Old Kyiv-Pechersk fortress. It was built by Ivan Meller, the general-lieutenant of artillery, in 1784-1801 years. The Old Arsenal is the first building designed in the style of classicism in Kyiv.
