Presenting contemporary art has become a characteristic feature of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) annual meetings for the past 20 years. Artworks have accompanied various socio-political discussions, not only providing visual support to the forum's narrative but also contributing to a deeper understanding of the topics discussed during the YES forum.

On July 1, 2004, Yalta European Strategy held its first meeting in Livadia Palace in Yalta in Ukrainian Crimea. Almost to the day 20 years later, on June 25th, 2024, the European Union formally opened accession negotiations with Moldova and Ukraine.

For all European countries, this signifies a commitment to a stronger EU, ready to devise and enforce joint security policies. For Ukrainians it represents existential progress, bolstered by international and European support in reclaiming their territory, their sovereignty, and freedom from Russian oppression and terror. This achievement is a culmination of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) initiative’s long-standing efforts to support Ukraine’s accession to the EU. However, it also marks the beginning of a journey filled with opportunities and significant challenges.
