Zhernakov Mykhailo

Mykhailo ZHERNAKOV is a Ukrainian lawyer, co-founder and the director of DEJURE Foundation, and a leading expert on judicial reform. He is a Member of a Public Integrity Council, a civic body responsible for integrity checks of judges, and a Board Member of the Reanimation Package of Reforms (RPR), the biggest reform-oriented civil society coalition in Ukraine. He joined RPR as an independent expert in early March 2014 after the Revolution of Dignity. Prior to resigning from the position of a judge in February 2015 to work full-time on judicial reform in the third sector, he served as a judge of Vinnytsia District administrative court in 2012-2015. He took a direct part in the development of Ukraine’s judicial reform and was one of the advocates for the renewal of the judiciary, establishment of the new Supreme Court in Ukraine, and the active participation of the civil society in the selection of judges. Born in 1985, Dr. Zhernakov studied Law in Kharkiv, Ukraine. He holds a Ph.D. in Law (Kyiv, 2009), an LL.M. (Rotterdam, 2009, Bologna, 2010), and Dr. Habil (Kyiv, 2016).
