Member of the European Parliamnet
Boris ZALA is a Member of the European Parliament. Previously, he was a member of the Slovak National Council from 2002 to 2009 where he held the position of the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. In 2006-2009, Mr. Zala led the Permanent Delegation of the Slovak Republic at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and was a PACE Vice-Chairman. From 2003 to 2004, he participated in a convent for the preparation of a revised Treaty for the Constitution of the EU. In 2000-2007, Mr. Zala worked as Assistant Professor and Chair of the Political Science and European Studies Department at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, the Slovak Republic. Earlier, from 1984 to 1990, he was a researcher at the Social Development and Labour Research Institute in Bratislava. Mr. Zala received his master’s degree in Philosophy in 1979 and a Ph.D. in 1981 at Comenius University in Bratislava.
