Taruta Serhiy

Serhiy TARUTA is a Ukrainian businessman, politician, and philanthropist. Between 2001 and 2014 he served as a Chairman of the Board of ISD Corporation, one of the largest Eastern European steel producers. In 2014, he assumed a position of a governor of the war-torn Donetsk oblast to assist the region in dealing with the humanitarian crisis. Since 2001, he has been the President of Donetsk football club Metallurg. Mr. Taruta is known for his long-standing support of Ukrainian cultural heritage projects. His collections of Christian orthodox icons and literature as well as the items of Trypillian culture, an ancient Neolithic civilization of Eastern Europe, often represent Ukraine during the international cultural fairs.
