Olena STIAZHKINA is a Ukrainian historian, journalist, prose writer and political activist. A senior researcher at the History Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, she is the author of Zhinky v istorii ukrains’koi kultury drugoi polovyny XX stolittia [Women in Ukrainian cultural history, second half of the 20th century] (2003) and Ludyna v radians’kii provintsii: Osvoennia (vid)movy [A person in Soviet province: mastering the discourse (and its rejection)] (2013), as well as of numerous articles in Ukrainian, Russian, and English. She was a nominee to “The Vasyl Stus Freedom to Write Award” (or Vayl Stus Prize) (2016) for her contribution to Ukrainian cultural life and active citizenship position. Mrs. Stiazhkina is the founder of the Public (Volunteer) movement "De(Re)-occupation. Homecoming. Education." It was founded 2014, because of Russian Armed invasion. The main mission of the Movement is to overcome the consequences of Russian occupation in the humanitarian space after the restoration of the sovereignty of Ukraine. Few of her later prose are also about a man in the world of war, survival practices, trauma - Movou Boha, 2016 (eng: In God's language); Rozka, 2018; Kliuchy, 2018 (eng: The Keys) etc.
