Smyrnov Oleksandr

Oleksandr SMYRNOV has been the Chief Executive Officer of PORTINVEST since 2010. Previously, he served in executive management positions in Donetskstal metal plant, where he developed the external economic activity, logistics and cooperation strategies with ports. From 2004 to 2010, he was a member of the supervisory board of Baltic Coal Terminal. He implemented a project to build the biggest coal terminal in the Ventspils port in Latvia. From 1999 to 2004, he was the Commercial Director and later the Chairman of the Board of Makiyivka Coke Plant. Prior he worked in the field of logistics and external economic activity in commercial structures and in the coal industry. Mr. Smyrnov received master’s degree with a focus in project management from the Donetsk State Academy of Management in 2001. In 1986, he became a mining engineer when he graduated from the Donetsk Polytechnical Institute, where he majored in technology and comprehensive mechanization of underground mining of groundwater resources. In 2013, he was placed in the TOP-100 TOP-Managers of Ukraine, an annual rating compiled by the business publication Investgazeta.
