Member of Parliament of Ukraine
Alona SHKRUM is the Ukrainian politician, lawyer and human rights advocate. In 2014, she was elected a Member of Parliament of Ukraine, member of Batkivshchyna party. In the parliament, she heads the subcommittee on civil service reform and service in the local communities. She is also a member of Ukrainian part of Parliamentary Committee of Association, and a member of the delegation of Ukraine to the Interparliamentary Union. Ms. Shkrum also co-chairs inter-parliamentary relations group with France and is a member of Interfactional Association EuroOptimists in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Public administration reform and reform of the civil service and self-governance are the main focuses in her parliamentary activity. Ms. Shkrum is known for her active civic position. She is one of the co-founders of the Professional Government Association of Ukraine, a well-known NGO that advocates for the civil service reform and is a member of Aspen Institute Kiev. Before her election to the Ukrainian Parliament, Ms. Shkrum worked as advocacy expert and practiced law in Ukraine, France, and United Kingdom as a Pegasus Scholar in the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple. Alona Shkrum holds an LL.M. from Cambridge University, UK, and a master's degree in international economic law from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. She also graduated with honours from the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.
