Member of Parliament of Ukraine
Oleksiy RIABCHYN is a Member of Ukraine’s Parliament from Donetsk region. In October 2014, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada on the Batkivshchyna party list. He leads the Subcommittee on Energy Saving and Efficiency of the Committee on Fuel and Energy Complex, Nuclear Policy and Nuclear Safety and is a member of the Interfactional Association EuroOptimists which unites the civil society activists, journalists, and educated professionals within the Ukraine’s Parliament. In early 2014, he organized the pro-Ukrainian rallies in restless Donetsk. Before joining the political arena, he worked as the Washington Post stringer and as the International Communications Strategy Manager at the Ukraine Reforms Communications Taskforce. He is focused on promoting renewables, sustainable development, green economy, both on the global and national levels, supporting displaced universities that fled from Donbas and Crimea. Dr. Riabchyn has a Ph.D. in Economics from Donetsk National University and M.Sc. in Innovation and Sustainability for International Development, SPRU, from the University of Sussex, UK.
