Victor MIRONENKO is the Leading Scientific Associate and the Head of Center for Ukrainian Studies at the Institute of Europe in Moscow (IE RAS) since 2004. He was the Editor-in-Chief of Contemporary Europe journal. Prior, he was the Secretary of International Affairs Committee of Supreme Council of USSR, a member and the First Deputy Head of Department for relations with other political organizations at the Central Committee of Communist Party of USSR. He began his public sector career as the First Secretary of the Young Communist League of Ukraine Central Committee (1983 - 1986) and later, he was the First Secretary of the Young Communist League of the USSR Central Committee (1986 - 1990). He is an author of articles on the history of USSR, history of Ukraine, and Russian-Ukraine relations. Born in 1953, Mr. Mironenko received education from Nezhin State University and Chernigov State Pedagogical University and completed a postgraduate program in Moscow University for Humanities.
