Chairwoman of the Board , Agency for Legislative Initiatives
Svitlana MATVIIENKO is a Charwoman of the Board of the Agency for Legislative Initiatives, a leading Ukrainian analytical center, and a member of the Coordinating Council on Civil Society Development under the President of Ukraine. She began her professional career at the Center for Promotion of Civil Service Institutional Development in 2007 and since then has spent ten years working in the NGO sector. Ms. Matvienko is an expert on issues of political process, parliamentarism, and civic education. Additionally, she is the coordinator of the Ukrainian School of Political Studies, one of the most successful educational and network projects in Ukraine. The establishment of the School marked the 10th anniversary of Ukraine's accession to the Council of Europe and became a major event for the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Her scientific interests include anthropology, political philosophy, and contemporary Western philosophy. She is an editor-in-chief of a journal "PARLIAMENT" and is fond of literature and art history. Ms. Matviienko received a master’s degree in Philosophy from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and in Theoretical and Practical Philosophy from the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.
