Member of Parliament of Ukraine
Mariia IONOVA is a Member and a Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on European Integration in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. She began her political career in 2005 serving as a consultant to the presidential administration. From 2008 to 2012, she was a member of the Kyiv City Council. In 2012, she was elected to the Parliament, where she served as the Head of the Sub-Committee on the Legal Support for Maternal, Child and Reproductive Health of the Committee of Public Health. In 2014, she was re-elected as a representative of the Petro Poroshenko Bloc. Mrs. Ionova consistently works on the issues of European integration. She is a member in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee, and inter-parliamentary relations groups. She is involved in numerous international activities regarding the conflict in the Donbas region. She regularly conducts meetings with foreign parliamentarians, representatives of UNDP, UN, UNICEF, and OSСE to inform on the humanitarian situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea. Mrs. Ionova works on legislation to strengthen the rights of internally displaced persons and assist women and children suffering from the conflict war in the Donbas region.
