Head of the Department of Special Investigation , Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine
Serhii HORBATIUK is the Head of the Department of Special Investigation of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, appointed in December 2014. The department investigates crimes committed during the Revolution of Dignity, as well as corruption crimes committed by the senior public officials during 2010 – 2014. He joined the Office in August 1996 as a district prosecutor and rose through the ranks to a senior investigator working on high-profile criminal cases. In addition to the prosecutor's investigative activity, together with the Directorate's staff, he works on reforming the public prosecutor's agencies and improving current legislation in the area of criminal law and procedure. In 1995, Mr. Horbatiuk received a law degree from the Ivan Franko Lviv State University. He was born in the village of Staryi Ostropil in Khmelnytskyi region. He is married and has a son.
