Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ukraine
Eduard HOEKS is the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Kyiv. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978 and was posted at the Embassies of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Nairobi, Sofia, Moscow, Dhaka, Algiers, Ouagadougou, and Jakarta. He also worked as the Head of the Eastern Europe Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague in 1996 – 2000. Furthermore, he was the NATO Political Advisor SFOR Commander in Sarajevo (2000 – 2001), a Consul-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City (2001 - 2004) and in Saint Petersburg (2004 - 2008). Prior to becoming the Ambassador to Ukraine in 2017, H.E. Mr. Hoeks served as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Luxembourg in 2008 - 2012 and in Prague in 2012 - 2017. He attended Grammar School, Gymnasium in 1971, and graduated cum laude with a degree in International Relations and International Law from the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Amsterdam in 1977. He was born on November 9th, 1952 in Breda.
