Member of Parliament of Ukraine
Ruslan DEMCHAK is a Member of Parliament of the Ukraine of the VIII convocation, where he has been serving as a Deputy Chairman of the Financial Policy and Banking Committee and a representative of Petro Poroshenko Bloc political party since his election in 2014. Since December 2010, Mr. Demchak has been the Chairman of the Federation of Employers of Kyiv (FEK). Now FEK consists of 22 local and industry organizations of employers that bring together over 3,000 of legal entities and public organizations, which employ more than 150 000 people in Kyiv. Prior to entering into politics, Mr. Demchak worked in business. He started a multinational holding company, Corporation "Ukrainian Business Group" (UBG) in the stock market in 1997. Later in 2011, he established a representative office of UBG Corporation in London, Ukrainian Business Centre in London (UBCL), and transferred the control of the UBG Corporation to the employees of the organization in order to participate in public activities. Today, all enterprises of UBG Corporation introduce the principles of modern corporate governance. The Corporation continuously improves employees’ skills through internal and external training and introducing various motivational and personnel programs. The enterprises also have an established system of quality control. The UBG Corporation Management has considerable experience in managing businesses in various industries including finance, manufacturing, medical services, agriculture, media, and information technology sectors. Mr. Demchak holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Ukrainian Transport University, an Economist diploma from the Interdisciplinary Institute of Management, and a Ph.D. from the National Institute for Strategic Studies, where he wrote his thesis on "Fiscal decentralization as a factor of economic security of the state." During 2001–2005, Mr. Demchak studied at the National Academy of Public Administration, where he completed his master's thesis "State regulation of the stock market of Ukraine" at the department of economic theory and economic history and was awarded a Doctoral Candidate Degree in Public Administration.
