Yevhen BYSTRYTSKY is the Head of Department in the Institute of Philosophy of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. For almost twenty years he served as the Executive Director of International Renaissance Foundation (IRF). He was also a member of European Foundation Center Governance Council in 2012 - 2015. Prior to joining the IRF in 1998, Professor Bystrysky was a researcher at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and taught philosophy and political science in Ukrainian leading universities from 1976 to 1989. From 1993 to 1998, Professor Bystrytsky was a member of editorial board of “Political Thought” magazine. He co-founded the Ukrainian Philanthropy Forum. Since 2016, he has been a member of Coordination Council for the Promotion of Civil Society Development under the President of Ukraine, and since 2015, he has been a member of the Council on Issues of National Unity under the President of Ukraine. He is the author of several books and many articles in political sciences, including The Political Analysis of Postcommunism (Texas, A&M University Press, 1997). He has also spoken on TV and radio on civil society and politics.
