Member of Parliament of Ukraine

Volodymyr ARIEV is a Ukrainian politician and a journalist who has been a member of the Ukrainian Parliament for 11 years. Since 2013, he has been the Representative of the Ukrainian Delegation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). There he is the Vice President of the Bureau of the Assembly and Standing Committee. Previously, he served as the President of the Committee for Culture, Education, Science and Media and as the General Rapporteur for media freedom and safety of journalism. As MP, he was one of the contributors in drafting the anti-corruption legislation, which was adopted in 2009 and appealed by the Former President Yanukovich the following year. He began his career as an investigative journalist and found success producing political documentaries.
