Ihor Obolensky is a Ukrainian military commander, Colonel of the National Guard of Ukraine. He graduated from the Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Military Institute of Missile Forces and Artillery and holds master’s degrees in law and agronomy. Before the war, he worked in senior management positions in business companies. Starting in 2014, he served in an artillery brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and in the special unit “Omega.” In 2015, he was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion of the 4th Operational Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine and took part in combat operations for Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. In 2019, he left military service and moved into business, working at MHP and Agrotrade. With the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, he returned to the front, leading the volunteer formation “Khartia,” which later became the foundation for the 13th Operational Brigade of the National Guard “Khartia.” On March 20, 2023, he was appointed commander of this brigade. On April 15, 2025, Ihor Obolenskyi was appointed commander of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard “Khartia.” His career combines combat experience, modern leadership practices, and the ability to apply business management expertise to the military sphere.
