Maria Nazarova is a distinguished Ukrainian combat medic and instructor in tactical medicine, recognized as one of Ukraine’s "50 Women Leaders" of 2023 by Forbes Ukraine. Her journey began at just 17 during the Revolution of Dignity, when she organized medical points on Maidan and provided first aid for injured protesters. Since 2014, she has played a foundational role in shaping Ukraine’s battlefield medical response—training instructors, integrating NATO protocols in combat care, and co-authoring the official General Staff training curriculum for combat medics, which spans 640 hours in peacetime. Since the escalation in 2022, Maria has significantly accelerated combat medic training and continues delivering instruction directly to front-line units based on NAEMT standards. Her hands-on mentorship has helped save countless lives and foster practical medical proficiency under combat conditions. In addition to her professional achievements, this year Maria also became a mother, balancing family life with her ongoing service to Ukraine’s defenders.
