
Major General Dr Christian Freuding joined the Bundeswehr in 1990. His professional military education includes a doctorate in political science and the successful completion of the German and British General Staff Course. During his various command assignments, he took part in missions in the Balkans and Afghanistan. His last command assignment was as the commander of the Panzerlehrbrigade 9. Major General Dr Freuding has assumed various tasks in the Ministry of Defence. Among other things, he served as the senior military advisor to the Federal Minister of Defence. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Major General Dr Freuding became Director of the Special Staff for Ukraine. Since June 2023, Major General Dr Freuding has been the Director of the Joint Planning and Command Staff at the Ministry of Defence. He is married and has two children.
