Volodymyr Demchenko is a Ukrainian officer of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, commander of a battalion of unmanned aerial systems. Before the full-scale Russian invasion, he worked as a private entrepreneur, running a distribution business for non-food goods in the Dnipropetrovsk region. When the war began, he chose not to remain on the sidelines and took up arms to fulfill his constitutional duty. His combat path started in the security company of the Dnipro Territorial Recruitment Center, where he served for two months before being assigned to the 93rd Brigade, where he continues to serve to this day. After training in Cherkasy, he was deployed to defend the Kharkiv region, fighting near Izium as a soldier in the reconnaissance platoon of the 2nd Rifle Battalion. In August 2022, he was sent with his unit to Donbas, where they took part in the battles for Bakhmut. By the end of that year, he became commander of a reconnaissance platoon, and in early 2023, he led a separate aerial reconnaissance group directly under brigade command. His group carried out intelligence and artillery adjustment missions along the brigade’s defensive line. In autumn 2023, Demchenko received his first officer rank of Junior Lieutenant and took command of a company of unmanned aerial systems, which conducted reconnaissance and strike missions in support of the 93rd Brigade. In April 2024, this company expanded into a full battalion under his command.
