Oleksandr Kamyshin began his professional career as an auditor and economist. In 2009, he was appointed General Director at Karlivka Machine-Building Plant. In 2012, he became an investment manager at SCM Holdings, and in 2018, a member of the Supervisory Board of Lemtrans (part of SCM). Mr. Kamyshin left SCM in 2019 to become a managing partner of Fortior Capital. On 11 August 2021, Oleksandr Kamyshin was appointed as the acting Chairman of the Board of the state-owned Ukrainian Railways. He was appointed permanent Chairman of the Board in March 2022. Mr. Kamyshin gained worldwide recognition for keeping Ukrainian trains operational during the early stages of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. On 3 March 2023, he was appointed as an Advisor to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and on 21 March 2023, as the Minister of Strategic Industries. His prime objective is to enhance Ukrainian defense industry. On 8 September 2024 he was appointed as Advisor to the President for Strategic Affairs
