Dmytro Finashyn, a Ukrainian military hero, served as a Senior Sergeant in the Special Purpose Battalion named after Kulchytsky under the National Guard of Ukraine. During the Russian-Ukrainian War, he earned the prestigious title of Hero of Ukraine in 2022. In a pivotal battle near Soledar, in May 2022, Finashyn's leadership guided his outnumbered unit to repel a foe that ambushed them. Despite numerous injuries and being initially declared deceased, he crawled back to Ukrainian lines after days of struggle. However, he lost his arm after that accident, and he showed resilience and determination during recovery. He also actively supports fellow injured soldiers. Now back in the National Guard, Finashyn contributes to UAV data analysis and pursues higher education at the Academy of the National Guard, showcasing his commitment and inspiration.
