Member of Parliament of Ukraine
Sergiy LYOVOCHKIN is a Member of the Parliament of Ukraine. He is the founder of the New Ukraine Institute for Strategic Research, Ukraine-based NGO and think-tank dedicated to modernizing Ukraine, and developing an intellectual dialogue about its future. The institute supports western-oriented reforms in an effort to align Ukraine toward European standards in critical areas including judicial, economic, electoral, and freedom of the press. Mr. Lyovochkin has worked extensively to build Ukraine into a modern democratic country since its independence in 1991. He has spent over 20 years in government service, holding several key roles. He served as the Head of Administration of President Victor Yanukovich from 2010 to 2013, where he managed several important government initiatives including Ukraine’s effort for Euro-integration. On November 30, 2013, Mr. Lyovochkin submitted his letter of resignation because of disagreement with non-signing of Association Agreement with EU in Vilnius and violent actions that government took against Maidan activists. He left the Presidential Administration to support Ukraine’s alignment with the West and develop key reforms that would enable Ukraine to become a more modern democratic country.
