The Western world will have to pass a test on its own values – Arseniy Yatseniuk

The Western world will have to prove in practice the commitment it has to its fundamental values in the context of Russian aggression, said leader of the People’s Front Party, Prime Minister of Ukraine (2014-2016), Arseniy Yatseniuk, at the 13th Yalta European Strategy Annual Meeting (YES).

"Today, an extremely important challenge for the EU is to show its unity and a very clear political will.  Here in Ukraine, we have to fight every day to convince every Ukrainian that Europe is the right direction for us; that it is united and is defending its values. We hope that Europe and all of the Western and free world will pass this test.  There should be no arrangements on Ukraine without Ukraine being involved,” he said.

The leader of the People’s Front stressed that the civilized world must not accept nor legitimise the result of the elections to the Russian Duma, or those that the aggressor country is going to hold on the territory of the Crimea.

"I believe that Ukraine has passed its test: through the revolution where we fought for our freedom and via extremely difficult reforms that are very unpopular in the society.  We have made a clear statement that we are going towards the EU," he concluded.
