The European Union is Preparing a New Program to Fight Corruption for Ukraine – Dannish Foreign Minister

The European Union is preparing a new program to fight corruption for Ukraine, and Denmark will make important efforts to implement it, said Danish Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen at the opening of the 13th Yalta European Strategy Annual Meeting (YES).

"Corruption is the most important and difficult reform area. It implies the struggle between the new and the old Ukraine. It affects citizens and businesses all over the country, and it must be dealt with. We are working on the EU program where Denmark is getting a central role.  It is a new anti-corruption program starting at the end of this year. The aim is to stop corruption and give a chance and a possibility to people, businesses and investors to invest in a new Ukraine ", he said.

Minister Jensen added that Europe realizes the complexity of the problems that Ukraine is facing in a situation of an armed conflict. However, these problems should not become an excuse in the issue of the reform.

"We must ensure that Ukraine and Ukrainian people have a possibility to fulfil the dream of the new Ukraine, open, free and safe, as a member of the western world, as a close partner of the EU ", - he concluded.
