EU will Help Ukraine in Recovering Economy and Fighting Corruption – EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn
15 September 2016

The European Union is ready to go on with helping Ukraine in fighting corruption, recovering economy, addressing issues related to the judiciary system and other challenges that Ukraine is facing. EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn expressed this view in his welcoming speech at the 13th Yalta European Strategy Annual Meeting (YES).

"Europe is facing some similar challenges with different headlines, and it is another good example why we have to work together. Only together we are strong enough to face the challenges that you are facing, we are facing, and together we can play a relevant part in the global challenges that we are all facing. But you have to address the issue of corruption, you have to work on a further economic recovery, you have to address the weaknesses in the judicial system, and this is something where the European Union is ready to assist you”, he said.

Johanness Hahn stressed on the need to be self-confident and trustful in the ability and willingness of the politicians and others to find possible solutions for stability, peace and prosperity

"To achieve this, is kind of a marathon: sometimes you run a marathon in stormy conditions, sometimes in sunny conditions, but we will arrive at the finishing line, and it will be probably a new record ", - summed up the EU Commissioner.
