Ukrainians Have Gone Far Beyond All Expectations – David Petraeus

Courage, resilience, and determination of the Ukrainian military exceeded all possible expectations, emphasized General David Petraeus, Partner and Head of KKR and KKR Global Institute, at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) Annual Meeting “The Future is Being Decided in Ukraine”, organised by YES in partnership with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.

“The whole of Ukraine and all the military, both men and women, show extraordinary courage and bravery, demonstrate great standards of military service, and sacrifice. What the Ukrainians did went far beyond all expectations,” noted David Petraeus.

General Petraeus, sharing his own experience, noted that it became more and more difficult for the commanders every day. “Commanders never get hardened to casualties. It gets tougher and tougher to live with it,” emphasized the general.

According to him, the Ukrainian nation has rallied around the idea of victory, and this helps the troops achieve results. However, there are still many challenges ahead.

“You have fought brilliantly, tenaciously, adaptation, to inspire the entire world, with extraordinary courage”.
