The EU member countries need greater political unity, stated former Chancellor of Germany, Gerhard Schröder, at the 10th Annual Meeting of YES, “Changing Ukraine in a Changing World: Factors of Success” on Saturday in Yalta, Crimea.
“It is impossible to have a stable common currency and control monetary policy in isolation, we need political consensus around how to control the fiscal domain, the economy and social policy as well”, said Mr. Schröder during the discussion “Europe: Destination Unknown”.
The politician voiced his opinion about the priority goal to be set for the short term. “If we want a stable currency – free of crises, we must create political union. This is the next big goal. We need more, not less, integration in Europe”, the ex-Chancellor of Germany noted.
