Slovenia promises to support the EU aspirations of Ukraine

The Prime Minister of Slovenia Republic, Janez Janša, says that Slovenia is willing to provide a multi-purpose support to Ukraine in order to facilitate its joining to the European Union. 

He has said so today during a working meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

According to the Press-Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the parties have reaffirmed their equal interests in terms of further extension of Ukrainian- Slovenia political dialogue, consolidation of bilateral contracts at the highest level.

In view of Slovenia's EU chairmanship in 2008, the Slovenia party confirmed its willingness to provide a multi-purpose support to Ukraine in order to facilitate Ukraine's joining to the European Union.

The President of Ukraine, Victor Yuschenko, and former Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (1998-2005) Gerhard Schroeder is also expected to take the floor during the ceremony. The guests will hear opening address by the founder and YES Board member, Victor Pinchuk and YES Board Chairman, British MP, Steven Bayers.

The conference is to start on June 28 and will continue in Yalta on June 29-30. The 42nd president of the US William Clinton, Federal Chancellor of Germany (1998-2005) Gerhard Schroeder, and the President of Poland (1995-2005), and Alexander Kwasniewski.

"Yalta European Strategy" (YES) is an independent organization, which brings together high-level policy-makers, business leaders, thinkers, researchers, and journalists in Ukraine and abroad to facilitate Ukraine's accession to EU. The annual YES summits in Yalta have become the leading informal high-level forum focused on discussing and development of political recommendations. In 2006, the YES experts developed an analytical document "Agenda-2020", representing a step-by-step strategy for Ukraine's accession to the European Union in 2020. YES organization was created by a Ukrainian businessman and public figure, Victor Pinchuk in 2004.
