Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman to open the second day of plenary sessions of the 13th YES Annual Meeting

The plenary sessions of the 13th Annual Meeting of the Yalta European Strategy, “The World, Europe, Ukraine: Storms of Changes”, will start on the 17th of September with a speech of Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman. Participants of the forum will discuss the course of reform in Ukraine during the debate with the head of the Ukrainian Government.

The second day of the plenary sessions of the Yalta Annual Meeting will be largely focused on the situation in Ukraine. The forum participants will elaborate on fight against corruption, building up an economy of a new type and change of political elites. Discussions also will be held on the relations between Russia and the West as global visions of economy and innovations. The closing session will be focused on the major risks and prospects of the today’s global world.

The discussion on the key themes of the second plenary day will feature: resident senior fellow at the US Atlantic Council Anders Aslund, European Parliament Vice President Ryszard Czarnecki, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko, Member of Ukrainian Parliament Serhiy Leschenko, Director General at Metinvest holding Yurii Ryzhenkov, Director General at Vitol Ian Taylor, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Dmytro Shymkiv, Secretary at the National Investment Council of Ukraine Borys Lozhkin, Member of Ukrainian Parliament Mustafa Nayem, President of the European Parliament (2002-2004) Member of the YES Board Pat Cox, Member of Ukrainian Parliament, leader of the Batkivschyna party Yulia Tymoshenko, United States Secretary of Defense (2006-2011) Leon Panetta, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Tacan Ildem, Head of the Odessa Oblast State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili, Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin, French Senator, State Secretary for Foreign Trade (2010-2012), Secretary of State for European Affairs (2009-2010), Pierre Lellouche, Co-Founder and Director General at Carlyle Group David Rubinshtein, Co-Founder of Alfa Group Mikhail Fridman.

President of the US Council on Foreign Relations Richard Haass, presenter of the Hard Talk Show at BBC Stephen Sackur and presenter of the GPS show at CNN Fareed Zakaria will be moderating the discussions.

As previously reported, the 13th YES annual meeting will be held in Kyiv on September 15-17. The plenary sessions and special sections of the forum will take place at the Mystetsky Arsenal national museum and cultural centre. More than 350 prominent politicians, diplomats, businessmen, civil activists and experts from 20 countries of the world will take part in the work of the forum.
