Taruta: Maydan is not over today
11 September 2014

“Maidan overthrew the Viktor Yanukovych regime, but the reforms and freedoms those in Maidan square were striving for have not yet been achieved”, said Head of the Donetsk Region State Administration, Serhiy Taruta, at the opening reception the 11th YES Annual Meeting, entitled “New Ukraine, New Europe, New World: Building and Defending” on September 11th, 2014, in Kyiv.

“Maidan is not over today, we continue to try and achieve the goals proclaimed not only from the stage, but also in the tents, among all those who were there. We have achieved one goal - to overthrow the Yanukovych regime – but the rest, the reform, the freedom, the changes, the transfer of power, all of that remains a task that we have to carry out immediately”, said Taruta.

According to him, the first necessity will be to, “improve the economy fast”, as soon as the Ukrainian government has been re-established in Donbas.  “I firmly believe that is the biggest priority”, said the Head of the Donetsk Region State Administration.
