Board of Yalta European Strategy (YES) discussed “Options for the Future” at the 8th Davos Ukrainian Lunch

On January 27, 2012, members of the Board of Yalta European Strategy discussed "Options for the Future" during the 8th Davos Ukrainian Lunch organised by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and international investment advisory group Eastone on the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.

The event was attended by Member of the European Parliament, Portugal, Vice-President of the European People's Party Mario David; Chairman of the Board of  YES, the President of Poland (1995-2005) Aleksander Kwasniewski; a businessman and YES founder Victor Pinchuk; Director of Programs, German Council on Foreign Relations, Germany, Alexander Rahr; president of «Rothschild Conseil International» (1998-2004), France, Jean-Pierre Saltiel; Member of the European Parliament, Poland, Head of Delegation in the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Marek Siwiec and Executive President, EuroRSCG Worldwide, Stephane Fouks.

The President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and Chairman of the Board of YES, the President of Poland (1995-2005) Aleksander Kwasniewski took part in the discussion. The key topic debated at the meeting was Ukraine’s future prospective in the context of the future European and global developments. Also, among others, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Carl Bildt, Minister for European Affairs and chief negotiator of Turkey Egemen Bagis and former Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Aleksei Kudrin joined the discourse.

In general, this year’s Lunch was attended by over 300 top Ukrainian and international representatives  from political and business circles, including Chairman of the Board of Directors of "Renova" Viktor Vekselberg, president  of "Lukoil" Vagit Alekperov, chairman of the board of directors of AFK "System" Vladimir Evtushenkov, the owner and president of DCH Group Alexander Yaroslavsky, chairman of the board of directors of  “Industrial Union of Donbass” Sergey Taruta, Head of Council of the National Bank of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, founder and president of "Kyivstar" Igor Litovchenko, president and CEO "Alfa Bank Ukraine" Alexander Lukanov and co-founder of Horizon Capital Natalie Jaresko.

The Davos Ukrainian Lunch is the most preeminent international gathering dedicated to Ukraine, held annually in Davos at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. It is dedicated to giving world leaders an opportunity to learn about and discuss Ukraine’s political and economic situation and challenge. The Victor Pinchuk Foundation and international investment advisory group EastOne have been hosting the Davos Ukrainian Lunch since 2005. Since then the Ukrainian Lunch featured, among others, Viktor Yanukovych, Carl Bildt,
Aleksander Kwasniewski, Bronislaw Komorowski, Chris Patten, George Soros, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Thomas Friedman, and Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
