Borys LOZHKIN

Borys Lozhkin was appointed Secretary of the National Investment Council (pro bono) on August 29, 2016, following his resignation from the Presidential Administration. The appointment was a part of the President's policy of focusing the effort on economic development and attracting foreign investment to Ukraine. He also works as Deputy Head of the National Reform Council (pro bono).
Born in Kharkiv in 1971, he started his career as a journalist since the age of 14, when he started working as a freelance correspondent in local newspapers and later as regular staff in a newspaper "Vechirniy Kharkiv". Mr. Lozhkin has established his path as a media entrepreneur in early 1990s, becoming the founder and chief editor of private newspaper ATB in Kharkiv.
In 1994, Mr. Lozhkin issued the first newspaper - TV guide in Ukraine “Telenedelya” on the basis of which he would soon develop UMH group, a multimedia group that now runs more than 50 media projects in the spheres of Internet, radio, press in Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. It also represents interests of major US-based publishing houses - Forbes Media and Conde Nast - in Ukraine. In 2013, UMH group occupied the 15th place in the ranking of the biggest media companies of post-soviet countries.
As a public figure, Mr. Lozhkin started as an Advisor to the Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov in 1997-1998. In 1998-2002, he was an elected deputy of Kharkiv City Council. He later became a member of the Council of Entrepreneurs under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in 2003 and President of the Ukrainian Association of Press Publishers for 2004-2006. Since 2006, Mr. Lozhkin is board member of WAN-IFRA – the biggest international professional association of mass media publishers. He has been Member of Presidium of the Ukrainian Federation of Employers in Media Sphere since 2012.
Mr. Lozhkin is an honored journalist of Ukraine and holds a PhD in Linguistics. He is a graduate in Russian Language and Literature of Kharkiv National Pedagogical Institute. Borys Lozhkin is married to Nadiya Shalomova, an honored journalist of Ukraine, and has a daughter.
