Natalie A. JARESKO

Natalie A. Jaresko developed a successful international career in public service and private sector. Mrs. Jaresko was the Minister of Finance of Ukraine in difficult times between 2014 and 2016, when Ukraine was struggling with deep recession after the Revolution of Dignity, and part of its territory was torn by fighting. At her position, she finalized complicated negotiations with the IMF on Extended Fund Facility program for Ukraine, which was one of the biggest in IMF history; she also successfully managed the complicated sovereign debt restructuring process.
Success of the government in stabilizing the macroeconomic situation allowed attracting considerable international financial support. Natalie Jaresko reduced budget deficit by 75% in 2015, the equivalent of 2.1% GDP. As a result of her tax reform, the minimal compulsory insurance payment was reduced by 50%, and tax privileges for certain business groups were eliminated. A transparent system of electronic administration was introduced to monitor all payments by the Treasury in real time online, as well as the reform of corporate management of state banks was initiated.
Prior her appointment as the Minister of Finance of Ukraine, Natalie Jaresko was a co-founder and CEO of Horizon Capital for almost two decades, managing total funds of more than 600 million USD. She also was President and CEO of Western NIS Enterprise Fund, building a platform for a direct investment in the region.
Natalie Jaresko started her career in public service in the economic division of the State Department in Washington, D.C., in 1989-1992. In 1992-1995, Ms. Jaresko served as the Chief of the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. Currently, she is Head of the Supervisory Board of Aspen Institute Kyiv and a member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on the Future of Financing and Capital.
Ms. Jaresko received her Master's Degree in Public Policy from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government in 1989 and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois in 1987. Ms. Jaresko received the Order of Princess Olha award from the President of Ukraine in 2003 for her contributions to the Ukrainian economy.
